UI Designer

UXL | The User Experience Lab is hiring a UI designer with experience designing user interfaces for complex software applications.

Our UI designers work collaboratively with researchers and UX designers to develop intuitive and graceful solutions from conception to implementation. This position may require working in our NYC or Westchester offices, or on client site in NYC.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the collaborative design of intuitive solutions for complex systems

• Perform competitive research to inform design development

• Participate in design brainstorms with client stakeholders and other team partners

• Lead the design of visual systems for new and existing applications

• Implement UI templates and libraries to be used by teams of designers

• Develop polished comps with necessary specifications for hand-off to developers

• Assemble prototypes illustrating flow of interaction

• Participate in the UX design through conceptual diagrams, wireframes

• Support research team with development of assets for concept and usability testing needs

• Present work to internal team and client stakeholders

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of UI design experience

• Degree in related field

• Mastery of design tools such as Sketch, Invision, Zeplin, and Adobe Creative Suite

• Experience designing for desktop, responsive and mobile

• Instinctive understanding of UX, workflow design and information design

• Exposure to mainstream front-end technology frameworks and their constraints

• Good communicator and collaborator

• Judiciously select and design appropriate visualizations to support the intuitive display of large data sets

• Experience with Financial Services a plus
