Outages Tracker for Multi-Application Platform
As part of a move towards integration and transparency, our client asked us to help surface application outages within a large platform of more than a hundred applications. This included both passive notifications (and the suggestions for workarounds) and the ability for end users to lightly investigate the outages that were the most impactful to them. We created a series of alert templates, notifications within the search tool, and a detailed page to meet these needs.
The page we designed lists prioritizes current and upcoming outages by listing them at left with descriptions, and links to workarounds. At right, we included exploratory tools, which users can interact with to visually explore outage patterns, as well as track upcoming outages via a calendar widget. We worked with the business and technology teams to plan for the tool to respond to usage patterns, and highlight items most often or recently used.
