The (new) User Experience Lab is open for business
Julie Fortier and Edward Guttman are thrilled to announce their consulting partnership, marking the transition of The User Experience Lab (UXL) into a boutique user experience and design firm. UXL helps established companies and startups solve complex interface and information design problems.
UXL’s consultants are experts in user experience, user interface and information design, user research and usability testing. We’re dedicated to creating elegant, usable products for workers, customers, consumers, creators, players — people who expect greater power, performance, and utility as defined by the devices in their pockets. UXL helps the companies behind those products hone their vision and design better user interfaces and interactions across all platforms and devices.
Julie Fortier has over 15 years of experience managing the design of complex user interfaces for financial services and travel applications. In 2005, Julie launched UXL to provide user experience consulting services to clients such as Liberty Travel, XM Radio, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Morgan Stanley. Julie approaches design from a strategic perspective with a pragmatic foundation. Equally comfortable working with business and technology stakeholders, Julie remains a steadfast advocate for end users.
As a graphic design student in the late 80s, Edward Guttman was drawn to the computer screen as the emerging digital realm created new design challenges and opportunities. In 2001, Ed founded New York Chart & Diagram, a firm focused on taming complicated workflows and visualizing information for industries such as finance, business intelligence, education, and medicine. After a decade as Director of User Experience at a financial technology startup, Ed is delighted to expand the design studio practice together with Julie at UXL.
